US regulations require sales tax to be added to online subscriptions where applicable. Regulations in the EU and the UK require VAT to be paid.
Click here for the SOUTH DAKOTA v. WAYFAIR court ruling that changed how online purchases are taxed. And see here for an FAQ on the resulting tax requirements for states.
Currently, we accept the following currencies for payment; US Dollar, Canadian Dollar, Euro, British Pound Sterling, Australian Dollar, and the New Zealand Dollar. Any Country or Territory that uses a currency not listed above will default to the US Dollar.
NOTE: Your location, and not your currency, determines how the VAT or sales tax is calculated.
FAQs about paying VAT and sales tax on a PicMonkey subscription
What if I’m not in the USA but I pay in USD?
Those who pay in US Dollars because they signed up before we accepted multiple currencies, or are in a country where we do not accept your local currency, are subject to the tax rules of where they are located and may need to pay VAT.
If you have a VAT number you can visit the accounts page of our site where you will be able to update your payment details. Make sure to select the correct country so the VAT percentage is accurate.
What if we’re a non-profit or tax-exempt organization in the United States?
As a tax-exempt organization in the United States, you can submit your sales tax exempt certification to our support department via your PicMonkey account email address. Please attach your exempt documentation and send to: help@picmonkey.com.
How much is the sales tax in my state?
You can check how much you are required to pay here.
You are not charging me the correct US sales tax rate for my location. How do I fix this?
The most likely cause of an incorrect sale tax rate being charged is an inaccurate location associated with your PicMonkey account. Ensure that the zip code on file is correct by visiting the accounts page. If your tax rate is still incorrect, you can submit your full address to help@picmonkey.com. Make sure that you include your full street address, city, state, and zip code.
