Finding and Organizing Images and Folders in Hub
Updated over a month ago

When you create an image in PicMonkey or work with a template, your work is constantly auto-saving to Hub, PicMonkey cloud-based storage. Hub stores your files as editable, layered images so you can come back later and continue working. (See: What is Hub?)

You can also upload images into Hub from other sources like your computer, your phone, third-party storage, and social media. (See: How do I get my photos into PicMonkey to edit?)

Once your files are auto-saved or uploaded to Hub, you can go in to your Hub to search for files, and to organize them into different folders — Yours or Shared — and you can invite others to collaborate on the files with you inside of PicMonkey. Business subscribers can also tag their files for easier sharing and organization among their team seats.

This article will explain how to organize your images, folders and spaces in Hub.

Multi-select documents in Hub

To help you better organize and gather documents from Hub, you can now multi-select documents and choose to duplicate, move folders, download, or delete.

To select multiple documents:

  1. Hold down the shift key and click your document.

  2. Repeat the process for the last document you want to select.

Note that holding the shift key and selecting a document that is not the first one in your folder will automatically select every document that comes before it.

To unselect documents, hold down the shift key and click the last document in your selected group. Or, if you only want to unselect a certain range of documents, click the last one in that range and everything before it will be unselected.

Opening images stored in Hub

'Auto-saved to my Hub' on the PicMonkey homepage provides quick access to images most recently worked on. Just click on one to load it into the editor. Or, go to any of your folders on the left to search for the file that you want.

Copy vs original

If you want to keep your original image as-is, but want to work on another version of the image, choose "Edit a Copy" instead of "Edit image".

Creating folders and subfolders in Hub

Access your Hub any time by clicking the PicMonkey logo in the upper left corner. In the left folders panel you'll see the "Your Hub Folders" section followed by "New Folder" underneath, then "Your Name's Subfolders" —both of these icons are permanent and non-movable.

• Add a new subfolder to "Your Name's subfolder" section by hovering on the folder title, clicking the three dots, then selecting Create new subfolder.

• Click "New Folder" to create a new top-level folder, then name the subfolder(s) inside.

• If you choose to share a top-level folder you created, the folder will automatically move to "Shared Hub Folders" below.

"Your Hub Folders" are private to you

Your Hub Folders is where you can store all the photos that are only for you. The Unsorted folder also lives here. Everything you created recently will be in this folder, no matter if you already moved it to another folder.

Create a new private folder by clicking the “+ New folder "icon just underneath "Your Hub Folders." Name your new folder, and name or add the subfolders within it.

Customizing the folder image icons

These steps will help you change the round folder icon on a top-level folder. To set a subfolder's thumbnail (square) image, see the next section.

Note: To change the photo on the "Your Name's subfolders" folder, go to Manage my account and change your account photo there.

Change a folder's icon image

  1. Click on the folder title you want to change the icon on.

  2. Click “Change icon”.

  3. Choose a new image and adjust it to fit in the circle.

  4. Click “Change”.

Set a cover image for a subfolder

To change the cover image of a subfolder (the square thumbnails), follow these steps:

  1. Open the folder you want to change the cover on.

  2. On the photo you want to use as the cover, hover over and click the 3 dot menu icon.

  3. Select “Set as cover image”.

Naming and saving your image

Because your images are constantly being auto-saved to Hub, they need a file name as soon as you begin working on them. If you're starting with a stock photo or video, or a photo from your computer, the name the file already has will be its PicMonkey file name — no surprise there.

However, if you're starting from a blank canvas or a template, you'll want to designate a name. In the top toolbar, click the name field (which may say "Untitled" if it's a template or "Instagram Story" or something like that if it's a pre-sized blank canvas) and replace the default name with one of your choosing.

Note, too, that if you click "Saved to Hub" next to your file name field, you can see which folder and subfolder the file is in, and change it if you like.
