To help us maintain a secure, reliable experience for our community, we’re updating how we manage long-term inactive PicMonkey accounts.
As part of this process, accounts that have not been logged into for more than two years and do not have an active subscription may be permanently deleted, along with any saved content associated with those accounts.
Below are answers to common questions about this update.
Why is PicMonkey deleting inactive accounts?
From time to time, we review inactive accounts to help improve platform performance, maintain account security, and manage stored data responsibly.
This process applies only to accounts that:
Have not been logged into for more than two years
Are not currently on an active paid subscription
Before any eligible account is deleted, we’ll send reminder emails in advance of the scheduled deletion date.
What happens when an inactive account is deleted?
If an eligible inactive account is deleted:
The PicMonkey account profile will be permanently removed
Saved images, designs, templates, and documents will be deleted
Stored content will no longer be recoverable
Account access will be disabled
Once deletion is completed, we cannot restore the account or its content.
How can I prevent my account from being deleted?
The easiest way to keep your account active is to log in to your PicMonkey account before the deletion date listed in your email notification.
We also recommend to keep an active subscription to maintain access to stored content and feature
I received an email about deletion. Is it legitimate?
Yes. If your account is eligible for deletion due to long-term inactivity, PicMonkey may send reminder emails leading up to the scheduled deletion date.
These emails will come from official PicMonkey communication channels and will include information about:
Your scheduled deletion date
How to keep your account active
How to access support
Can I recover my account after it’s deleted?
No. Once an inactive account has been permanently deleted, the account and all associated content cannot be restored.
We strongly recommend downloading any important files before the deletion date.
How do I download my images or designs?
To download stored images, designs, or documents from your account, an active subscription is required.
After signing in and resubscribing, you’ll be able to access and download your saved content before any scheduled deletion occurs.
Click Reactivate My Account if you want to set up your subscription.
What if I forgot my password?
If you’re unable to log in, you can reset your password using the “Forgot Password” option on the PicMonkey sign-in page. Also, PicMonkey uses Magic Link access, if your email was validated, you can request a login link to your inbox to access your account.
We recommend doing this as soon as possible if you received a deletion notice.
Does simply logging in stop my account from being deleted?
In most cases, yes. Logging into your account before the scheduled deletion date will prevent the account from being considered inactive.
While some features or stored content may still be accessible, you do need an active subscription for most tools and to download.
Will active subscribers be affected?
No. Accounts with an active paid subscription are not part of this inactive account deletion process.
If you received a delete notification, it is likely that you have an old PicMonkey registration linked to the email address that received the notice. You can double check your login to confirm the active account is with a different email address.
What will happen to my personal data?
When your account is deleted, this will result in the deletion of personal data associated with your inactive account.
I no longer want my account. Do I need to do anything?
No action is required if you no longer wish to keep your inactive account.
Eligible inactive accounts will be automatically removed after the scheduled deletion date.
How will I know if my account is scheduled for deletion?
If your account is eligible, you may receive reminder emails before deletion, including notices approximately:
30 days before deletion
48 hours before deletion
Does this process apply globally?
Yes. However, users in certain regions may receive additional privacy-related notices in accordance with local regulations such as GDPR or CCPA.
